BOMDILA, May 8: Health department of West Kameng district as a part of its sample collection drive for real-time Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT PCR) from persons coming out of the state and those who have completed 72 hours quarantine here at the facility collected a total of 15 samples on Friday.
The samples are being sent to Tezpur and earlier only 4 samples could be collected from the symptomatic persons in the later part of March and early April owing to limited numbers of VTM kits and all had tested negative. As of now, another 500 VTM kits have been provided in addition to the 20 issued earlier and tests will be carried out in FQs of the district as per SOPs.
Meanwhile, DMO Dr. D Wange informed that sample collection in blocks will be possible only after the outpost medical officers and lab technicians are given hands-on training at Bomdila on May 9, 2020. The concerned block-wise Data Entry Operators will also be imparted necessary training on uploading of data of patients pertaining to RT PCR, he added.
Earlier in the morning, Deputy Commissioner Karma Leki convened a meeting of Nodal Officers on maintenance of institutional quarantine facilities in the district and urged all for strict monitoring, supervision and execution.
