PASIGHAT, Dec 4: Sainik School East Siang (SSES) today celebrated the 50th Navy Day with pomp and grandeur to commemorate the ‘Victory At Sea’. On 4th December, 1971 an Eastern Naval Command fleet from Visakhapatnam coast bombed the Karachi harbour and destroyed Pakistani naval ships.
East Siang Superintendent of Police Sumit Kumar Jha graced the occasion as Chief Guest while his better half Aishwarya Sharma, Commandant 5th IRBN Pasighat took part as Guest of Honour and Abraham Taying, OC PS Ruksin was present as Special Guest.
Addressing the cadets the SP recollected his school days at Sainik School Tilaiya, Jharkhand and educated them about the importance and purpose of establishing Sainik Schools and advised them to prepare for entry into NDA and other prestigious academies of Indian Armed Forces including Civil Services.
Principal Commander Praveen Kumar Pola delivered a motivational speech and briefed the Indian Navy’s daring attack on Karachi Harbour during the Indo-Pakistan war in 1971. This year the day is being celebrated as “Swarnim Vijay Varsh” to commemorate the 50th anniversary of India’s victory in 1971 war in which Indian Navy sank four Pakistani vessels. Taking privilege, Principal Pola informed that after winter vacation from December 6- January 9, all standard classes (offline) will be started normally from 10th January, 2022.
