Nirjuli, Jun 2: As a part of mission LiFE in commemoration of World Environmental Day on 5th June, the Rural Works Department (RWD) in collaboration with North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) conducted Seminars and tree plantation at the NERIST campus.
The topic was on ways to reduce pollution with our lifestyle by following basic rules in day to day life. The RWD and NERIST being engineering departments discussed on new technology and construction practices which will reduce pollution and depletion of natural resources in the field of road infrastructure projects.
The power point presentation on technology were presented by Dr. Ajanta Kalita, Prof. Pradip Lingfa, Dr. Yamem Tamut from NERIST and Er. O. Tatak, ITNO, ARRDA from RWD on different technical topics related to reduction of the carbon footprint.
The seminars were attended by Prof. M. Muralidhar, Director, NERIST and Er. N. Nyodu, SQC, RWD, ARRDA as Chief guest and guest of honour respectively along with research scholars, engineers and engineering students.
Awareness of MeriLiFE which is an India- led global mass movement action to protect and preserve the environment was also disseminated.
