ITANAGAR, Oct 8: The three-day meeting to review the progress of ongoing Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) projects in the state under Rural Works Department concluded here on Thursday.
The meeting was convened after the lockdown as per the direction of RWD Minister Honchun Ngandam. Chairing the meeting, the RWD Minister expressed concern over the slow progress of several PMGSY projects and urged the contractors to take them up in a mission mode and give extra efforts to accelerate the progress of works for achieving the completion target of 4,850 km of roads within the 2020-21 financial year.
Stressing on teamwork between contractors and field engineers to reach the deadline, the RWD Minister directed the Secretary, Chief Engineer (PMGSY) and the Field Engineers to provide all necessary support to the executing contractors.
Elaborating on the meeting, Chief Engineer (PMGSY) D. Nyodu informed that during each day, there were detailed deliberations on the PMGSY roads being executed under the two Rural Works Circles out of the total six in the state. All PMGSY contractors and Field Engineers actively participated in the marathon meeting wherein the details of progress of works and issues related to individual roads and the hindrances faced by contractors were discussed.
