ITANAGAR, Sep 4: In the wake of allegations that had been leveled by the mother of one of the rusticated students,  Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy has today issued clarifications through a press release signed by its Principal.
The press release says that although it has  been alleged by the mother of one of the rusticated students that her son was punished for stealing 2 packets of Maggi noddles from the hostel canteen, the fact was that all the 7 boys  actually stole the Maggi cartoons and other items from the owner of a private run canteen attached to DSYA. And even if the canteen’s owner thought of lodging an FIR against the involved students, it was due to the initiative of the authority such a serious step was averted.
Coming to the CCTV footage part, SLSA has clarified that although all the students who were involved didn’t appear in the footage, a detailed enquiry and one to one meeting with them revealed the names of these 7 boys who eventually gave confession about their involvement. A meeting was convened on February 18, the day just after the day of incident when the decision to rusticate all the 7 students for the next academic session 2019-20 was taken so as to enable them to appear for annual exam in the month of March 2019.
Meanwhile, a letter from the Itanagar Child Welfare Committee was received in the office of the Principal, SLSA on July 2 and a detailed report/reply was submitted from the school authority on July 5 to Metung Loham, Itanagar Child Welfare Committee and Childline Itanagar giving the reasons for rustication. Regarding admission of one student in class VIII, it was done by constituting a committee consisting of the Technical Experts and Academic Teachers having previous sports excellence records and is not at all related to rustication of the 7 students, the release clarified. In regard to parents claim that they were not informed of the matter regarding rustication and the issue of T.C. to their wards, it  has no base as they were well informed of the matter earlier when their child were caught red handed while stealing the mobile hand-set of the senior students of the school. In fact, the mother herself procured new mobile handset for that boy from whom her son has stolen the handset, the clarification elaborated. SLSA PR
