Ruksin, May 31:  Dozens of Self Help Groups , including women met Officer In-charge of Ruskin PS  today and submitted a petition demanding not to grant bail to cattle smugglers and arrest those on the run.
Self Help groups urged the police department for proper investigation of Ruksin PS Case No.7/21 and demanded stringent punishment for smugglers as per the law.
Earlier Police had arrested two cattle smugglers. A case ( No. 7/21) U/S 379/511/34 IPC  has been registered at Ruksin PS in this regard.
 More smugglers are to be nabbed who are on the run, said Police sources and added local people are also involved in the cattle smuggling.
We are solely depending on our cattle for our livelihood and source of income. Smugglers have caused us immense misery, losses and pain to our health and soul, the petition reads. Our protest did not involve government officials or politicians and was a "pure people's movement", said Yatu Panggeng ,SHG president Ruksin Sub-division.
