ITANAGAR, Jul 1: Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) and Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society (APWWS) have welcomed the suo motu intervention by the Chief justice of Gauhati High Court Sudhanshu Dhulia in the Roing rape and molestation case wherein the victim was a minor girl.
On Wednesday the CJ of the GHC stayed the previous order of the Tezu court which allowed custody of the victim with a relative of the accused. Taking a serious note of the case, APSCPCR Chairperson Gumri Ringu said that after getting information about the procedural lapses, member of the commission N. Achung has been sent to Roing to meet the victim to get first-hand information. After receiving the report, a further course of action will be initiated by the Commission, APSCPCR’s release said.
Expressing gratitude to the GHC CJ, the APWWS has hoped that the judiciary will deliver justice to the child, adding that sensitivity of the concerned Judicial Officer matters in such cases. APWWS will always stand with the victim who is in urgent need of care and protection, its release said.
