PASIGHAT, Feb 7: Pasighat Traffic Cell is conducting “Road Safety Week” from February 4-10 with the aim of improving road safety under active supervision of Superintendent of Police Prashant Gautam. Traffic police in-charge Ange Miyu (SI) is coordinating the whole event.
The SP informed that his department is organizing various activities in creating awareness about road hazards and traffic congestion. With the ultimate aim of avoiding road accidents, this is done to create awareness amongst pedestrians as well as drivers as both have the responsibility to drive and walk in the streets in a disciplined manner and display cooperative attitudes towards on-duty personnel, SP added.
Gautam also opined that a little negligence on road can cost one’s precious life and appealed all road users to remain alert and careful and spoke on various aspects of safe driving like wearing of helmets, use of seat-belts, avoiding mobile while on wheels, no drunken driving etc. The department would continue its efforts beyond the scheduled period in making Pasighat a safer place to live.
The SP appealed parents not to handover any vehicle to underage children and assured to conduct a signature campaign with a mission to educate the common people to be law abiding. He further informed that a drawing competition will be organized by the department for children at Reserve Police Line to mark the weeklong observation. DIPRO
