ITANAGAR, May 25: The capping ceremony of 32nd batch of students of School of Nursing, Ramakrishna Mission Hospital took place here on Saturday in presence of Assistant Secretary, RKMH, Swami Pradiptananda and Secretary Health & Family Welfare and Director, National Health Mission, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Juhi Mukherjee IAS.
Director, National Health Mission termed the nurses as the backbone of health care system whose contribution is critical for achieving the national health care goals. “A nurse opens the eyes of a new born and gently closes the eyes of the dying,” she pointed out adding that it is a blessing to witness the beginning as well as end of lives.
“Pressure will be tremendous as you have chosen a profession which is one of the most stressful in world. But have faith in yourself, embrace challenges and always be committed towards the assigned duties as one day all your hard work will pay off,” she advised the nurses. She further lauded the RKM, saying that words will be not enough to convey gratitude for the tremendous services they are rendering in various spheres all over the country.
Swami Pradiptananda  in his address described nursing as a noble and rewarding profession and stated that nurses are often the most innovative in reaching the disadvantaged population. He also underlined that the practical and technical skills received during training days alone do not qualify a trainee to become a good nurse. “To be an exceptional nurse, a student must possess the capability to introspect the challenges, have control over emotions, be compassionate towards patients and take difficult decisions at right time,” Swamiji pointed out.
Earlier, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar, Swami Vishweshananda also exhorted the nurses to serve humanity with full dedication. The programme concluded with distribution of prizes to students.
