ROING, Jul 22:

Minister for state for Home affairs, Kiren Rijiju today formally inaugurated the Research Institution of World Ancient, Traditional, Culture & Heritage Museum, (RIWATCH) in presence of MP, Mukut Mithi, MLAs, Dr. Mohesh Chai, Gum Tayeng, Mutchu Mithi and others at Roing.

  Terming it a ‘live museum’ where cultural values of various tribes of the state and NE region can be exchanged, Rijiju called for documentation and research for preservation of the age old cultural heritage.

Dwelling on the pace of social and cultural development process in society, Rijiju underscored that the identity and cultural values should not be influenced by western civilization and modernization. He impressed upon youths to shoulder responsibility to pass on the Traditional and cultural values to the next  generation.

 

Rijiju also called for timely completion of all centrally sponsored schemes and urged for better co-ordination among the various departments for speedy development process.

 

 

Minister, Dr. Mahesh Chai, stressed on the need to safeguard cultural heritage and tribal languages, which is on the verge of extinction citing a UNESCO report.Government is initiating programme and policies to find out and to revive those minor and major tribes whose languages are on the verge of extinction,’ he said.

Dr. Joram Begi in his speech elaborated the importance and objectives of establishment of RIWATCH in the region and called for cooperation in bringing up the museum for preservation of various tribes cultural values.

He also appreciated all the donors and other Government agencies for their support and cooperation for establishment of a model research centre.

Later, Rijiju also inaugurated the 235.800 meter span Chimari Bridge, the lifeline between Roing-Tezu, constructed by BRO, UDAYAK/752TF/1446 BCC.
