ITANAGAR, Jan 11: Union Minister for Law & Justice Kiren Rijiju today reviewed the progress of various developmental schemes especially sports infrastructure projects funded by the Ministry under Khelo India & National Sports Development Fund (NSDF) in Arunachal Pradesh. 
He directed the State Sports Department to target all the sports infrastructure projects under Khelo India & NSDF to be completed and ready for inauguration by 31st March 2024. Rijiju also advised the Sports Department to come up with a road map for proper utilization & management of the sports infrastructure  created. He suggested the Sports Authority of Arunachal (SAA) to be the Nodal agency to look after all the sports infrastructure created under various source of funding.
It is worth mentioning that under the initiative of Kiren Rijiju, the state has been able to avail maximum funds from the Ministry for development of sports in the state. 
"We need to focus on youth developmental activities & youth empowerment is one of the major focus area," he said while suggesting the Youth Affairs Department to come up with a proposal to organize North East Youth Festival in Arunachal Pradesh and conducting a sports competition under "SANSAD KHEL SPRADHA" with an objective of mass participation of youths.
He said his dream to produce an Arunachalee athlete to participate in Olympic, Asian & Common Wealth Games will definitely come true if the sports stakeholders come together and work for the larger interest of sports promotion in the state.

Speaking at the meeting, Saran gave a brief report on the latest status of sports infrastructure projects. As many as 20 sports infrastructure projects has been sanctioned by the Ministry to Arunachal Pradesh under Khelo India scheme out of which two projects-- construction of multipurpose hall at Tirbin-Basar & Dirang are completed while the ones at Roing & Wakro are expected to be completed by March this year. Under  National Sports Development Fund (NSDF),  the tender process for installation of Open Air Gym in every district of Arunachal Pradesh is completed and the installation work will commence by end of January 2023, the Secretary informed.
The process for construction of 120 bedded hostel for boys & girls for Boxing, Wushu & Weight Lifting in NCoE, Itanagar is under progress. One State Level Khelo India centre is already functional in SLSA with the sports discipline Archery, Judo & Weight Lifting.
The Ministry has approved & sanctioned 54 small Khelo India centres in various parts of the Arunachal Pradesh. The centre at Pasighat & Miao is functional wherein qualified coaches along with the required sports equipment has been posted for imparting training & coaching. The rest 52 centres will be functional as the selection of athletes, providing of sports equipment to the centre with qualified coaches has been initiated by the Sports Department, the Secretary informed.
On proposal made by the Minister Mama Natung & Secretary General, AOA for setting up of a state-of-the-art sports complex at Hollongi with an estimated cost of Rs.130.5 cr, the Union Minister assured to extend all possible assistance in getting it approved & sanctioned by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports.
