Rono Hills, Jun 18: Rajiv Gandhi University’s Department of Geography on Thursday conducted an international webinar on the topic ‘Global Health Crisis and Socio-Economic Impact of Covid-19: A Geographical Perspective’.
522 participants comprising students, researchers, academicians, administrators and scientists from all over India, African countries and South Korea participated in the webinar conducted via Cloud app. RGU VC and the webinar’s Chief Patron Professor Saket Kushwaha stressed on the need for discussing the current global problems caused by the Covid pandemic through multi-dimensional approaches. Head, Department of Geography, Professor Kiran Kumari gave an introductory briefing on the selected topic to the participants.
Associate Professor, Ethiopian Civil Services University Dr. Pragya Tiwari Gupta addressed the problems of the migrants highlighting their major contribution to the socio-economic development of urban areas. Former VC, TM Bhagalpur University and former Head, Department of Geography, Visva-Bharati Professor V.C. Jha spoke on the role of digital technology in tracking detecting and mapping Covid-19. Secretary General & Treasurer-IGI and Former Head, Department of Geography, University of Delhi Professor R. B. Singh highlighted the spread of the viral diseases like Ebola, SARS and Covid-19 in urban areas. Vice-Chancellor, Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Open University Professor K.N. Singh focused on the spatial analysis of Covid-19 and the relevance of regional approach in spatial resource evaluation and the scope of bringing improvement in agriculture through Integrated Resource Management.
