Rono Hills, Nov 28: Rajiv Gandhi University, the lone central university of the state will be observing its Annual Convocation 2020 on November 30 here at the varsity campus in a blended mode keeping in view of the COVID-19 restrictions.
Chief Rector of the RGU and Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) B D Mishra (Retd.) will deliver the presidential address of the 18th edition of the convocation and Union Minister of Education Ramesh Pokhriyal as Chief Guest will deliver the convocation address. Union Minister of State, Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju has also consented to attend the event as Guest of Honour. RGU Vice-Chancellor Professor Saket Kushwaha said the decision to go for a blended mode, i.e. a combination of physical presence and virtual attendance has been taken this year due to the pandemic. To observe COVID SOPs, the varsity’s 1000-seat convention hall will allow entry of 200 persons only comprising members of the RGU’s Executive Council, Academic Council, Deans and Heads of Departments. Only the Ph.D, M.Phil and gold medallists of post-graduate and under-graduate courses from RGU-affiliated colleges have been invited to be present in the event and all other degrees will be conferred to the students in absentia. 
Parents of the candidates, invited guests, faculty members and administrative staff of the varsity will attend the event online.
