Entrance being conducted in 6 exam centers

ITANAGAR, Jun 28: With precisely 3379 number of combined seats in 83 programmes including PhD, Post Graduate courses, Undergraduate courses, PG Diploma and Certificate programmes ranging from conventional to technical and professional ones, of which 1390 seats are spread in RGU’s affiliated colleges against 9 selected programmes, the Rajiv Gandhi University is keeping no stone unturned to conduct two smooth entrance examinations namely; RGUPET-2022 and RGUCET-2022 at six designated centres. The centres notified for RGUCET-2022 are at RGU’s Rono Hills campus besides at Gauhati University, Guwahati, Jawaharlal Nehru College at Pasighat, Dera Natung Govt. College at Itanagar, Indira Gandhi Govt. College at Tezu and at Govt. College Bomdila campus and is being conducted from 28th June to 8th July. Candidates have selected their Examination Centers as per their own preferences and conveniences. Meanwhile, the RGUPET-2022 for admissions to a total of 123 PhD vacant seats in 28 departments shall be conducted at RGU campus only which is scheduled on July 4 - 7 next.
RGU’s Joint Registrar Dr. David Pertin while briefing the progress of the entrance on the first day of RGUCET-2022 informed that 15806 candidates have been shortlisted to vie for a seat in different courses and programmes on offer, which is a very encouraging sign for the University and speaks volume of RGU’s popularity in the state and in the region. He further informed that candidates who were appearing in final semester/year examinations of any qualifying degrees were eligible to apply and sit for the ensuing RGUPET & RGUCET-2022. However, their admissions on selection through entrance shall be confirmed only after scrutiny of the original documents and the result of their respective qualifying examinations. On type of question, he further informed that, generally, there shall be 100 multiple choice questions except for B.PEd. programme where total questions were restricted to 50 nos. only. University is introducing PhD programmes in the newly opened Departments of National Security Studies,  Law, Food Technology and Statistics, besides MSc. in Electronics. In PhD., the University has earmarked a supernumerary seat for eligible army personnel and officers. Joint Registrar of RGU Dr. David Pertin further informed that, for the successful conduct of the entrances, a 15 member Central Co-ordination Committee for Common Entrance Tests with Professor SK Patnaik of the department of Geography have also been constituted. A 24x7 helpline is also in place to attend to the queries of applicants led by RGU’s team of technical experts.  Selection through entrance in all departments including physical tests, personal interviews and Group Discussions in departments like Physical Education, Mass Communication and Management and their final admissions shall be completed latest by August 23rd, 2022 and the classes will commence from August 24th, 2022.
Prof. SK Patnaik, the Chairman of the RGUPET & RGUCET Central Coordination Committee informed that, the first day of the RGUCET started off well with 82.34% attendance despite inclement weather conditions prevailing in the region. Time slots were maintained as per prescribed schedule in all the centres and discipline ascertained through the observers from RGU. He further disclosed that 5364 candidates are competing for admission to 1100 BEd. seats spread in RGU’s dept of Education and 10 affiliated teacher education colleges of the state. 
The Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof. Saket Kushwaha, while expressing his satisfaction on the preparedness and success of the RGUCET and RGUPET-2022 said that RGU is striving to be amongst the top performing universities of the nation. He further disclosed that this year it may be the last year when RGU as a central university will be conducting the common entrance test for the last time as the university is all set to join the CUET conducted by National Testing Agency in line with the undergraduate courses. Earlier, this year RGU had joined the CUET for its five undergraduate courses, namely; BCA, BSc. (Agriculture), BSc. (Geology), BFA and BMus. to which the students shall be admitted through NTA conducted CUET.
Dr. NT Rikam, the Registrar while informing that RGU being ranked under top 150 universities amongst a thousand plus universities in India by National Institutional Ranking Framework of MoE has all the potentialities despite its locational remoteness and bottlenecks.
