RONO HILLS, Mar 2: As a part of the Student Cultural Exchange Programme between Rajiv Gandhi University and Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi under Union HRD Ministry’s Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat (EBSB), a cultural contingent of 50 students from RGU undertook a 5-day visit to BHU on February 24-28.
The RGU contingent also participated in BHU’s annual Inter-Faculty Cultural Youth Festival ‘Spandan’ and was led by Nodal Officer, EBSB Dr. Sambhu Prasad and Assistant Professor, Department of Education Dr. Sumin Prakash. The students were from the departments of Physical Education, Education, History, Computer Science, Sociology, Fine Arts & Music, NCC and NSS divisions. They engaged themselves in various cultural events as guest participants to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam in the form of exhibition of the EBSB theme in the inaugural procession, group patriotic song, poster & collage making and group tribal & Bihu dances in the valedictory function. There were also visits to various departments of BHU like Computer Science, Faculty of Visual & Performing Arts, Bharat Kala Bhawan (A museum of National importance), Physical Education, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Central & Cyber Library, hostels, Malviviya Mulya Anushilan Kendra, Malviya Bhawan, sports facilities etc. In addition to this, RGU students played a harmony football match with the male and female teams of BHU’s Department of Physical Education and interacted with the NSS volunteers on the theme ‘Linguistic Diversity and National Cultural Unity’ and brain stormed on the ways of making EBSB successful. The students also participated in a cultural procession which started from the BHU main gate and culminated at the Assi Ghat of Varanasi during which they showcased their diversities  with tradition cultural attires.
On the last day of the programme the visiting team participated in the valedictory function organized at the NSS Bhawan and received certificates. 
Thereafter they visited to ‘Sarnath’, the place where Lord Buddha after attaining enlightenment addressed his disciples for the first time and rotated the wheel of Dhamma. On the same day a diner for the departing RGU team was hosted. The event was also given a complete official media coverage.
Under EBSB, all the 28 states of the country have been paired into 14 and Arunachal Pradesh got paired with Uttar Pradesh. RGU PR
