NEW DELHI, Apr 5: A delegation of students union of Rajiv Gandhi University met Union Minister of state for Home affairs Kiren Rijiju at his New Delhi residence on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum apprising various issues of the University.

President of the union, Tania Tagia flagged the shortage of infrastructural development in the campus. Lack of proper facilities to promote sports, absence of a decent sports stadium, insufficiency of Hostels, scarcity of water in the campus, need for separate department buildings for various departments were raised with the MoS.

Also General Secretary RGUSU, Prem Taba spoke on the need for the central government to upgrade the university into a fully residential institute. He further informed that issues such as the renaming of the nomenclature of the university has been an issue of the union for which the union has been fighting day and night in the forms of Signature campaigning and memorandums to the state government for restoring the old name i.e. Arunachal University.

Taking note of the issues raised, the union minister said that development should flourish in the state’s only central university. Rijiju further added that the issues mentioned in the memorandum are diversified in nature and that he will do all that is possible from his end. He advised the union to place the issue of water scarcity in the state plan and on the nomenclature issue he assured to take it up with the Ministry of Human Resources Development.

The union is also scheduled to meet the Minister of Ministry of Human Resource Development as well.
