Rono hills, Mar 5: A two-day national seminar titled ‘Modernity and Indigeneity: Shifting Perspectives in Culture, Literature and Language’ commenced on Thursday here at the Rajiv Gandhi University organised by its Department of English.
The seminar was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Padmashree Y.D. Thongchi, the renowned writer of the Northeast, RGU Registrar Professor Tomo Riba as Guest of Honour, Dean of Academic Affairs Professor S.K. Singh as Guest Speaker, Keynote Speaker from Guwahati University Professor Asha Kuthari Chaudhuri and the varsity’s Dean of Languages Professor Oken Lego by lighting the lamp. Chief Guest and other dignitaries spoke at length on various aspects on modernity and indigeneity in their interpretative understandings.
