Rono Hills, Dec 8: Bhaskarjyoti Borah, a PhD scholar from the Department of Chemistry has made the Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) fraternity proud, as he has been awarded the Commonwealth Chemistry (United Kingdom) Best Poster Prize 2025 at the 6th Commonwealth Chemistry Online Posters Event, held from October 1-2, whose winners were officially declared today. 
Competing among 250 poster presenters from 23 countries, Borah emerged as one of the 25 global awardees representing 16 Commonwealth nations. His research work, titled “Decarboxylative Cross-coupling Strategies for Efficient Functionalization Reactions”, was recognised under the thematic category of Responsible Energy (SDG 7 & SDG 12). He will receive an official certificate and a cash prize. 
RGU’s Vice-Chancellor (Acting), Prof. S.K. Nayak termed Bhaskarjyoti Borah’s achievement as a matter of great pride for the entire RGU community. His success on an international platform showcases the academic excellence and research potential nurtured at the Rajiv Gandhi University, and congratulated him, his supervisor, and the Department for bringing laurels to RGU. 
The Registrar of RGU Dr. N.T. Rikam, while congratulating Borah for securing this highly competitive Commonwealth Chemistry award, praised him for his dedication to research. He expressed his happiness over the quality of research work undertaken which reflects the growing research culture at RGU and further commented that this recognition will inspire many more scholars across departments. The Joint Registrar of RGU Dr. David Pertin opined that young chemistry researcher Borah’s achievement adds another feather to RGU’s cap and reinforces university’s commitment to supporting meaningful research aligned with global goals and said that, it is heartening to see young researcher shine at an international event of such stature and wished him continued success in his academic and research pursuits. 
Bhaskarjyoti Borah is pursuing his doctoral research under the supervision of Dr. Bharat Kumar Allam, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, Rajiv Gandhi University.
