RONO HILLS, Jan 21: Rajiv Gandhi University has mourned the demise of Mata Prasad, the former Governor of Arunachal Pradesh and former Chancellor of the varsity, then known as Arunachal University.
A condolence meeting was held today here at the varsity to pay respect to the departed soul and a two-minute silence was observed. RGU Vice Chancellor Professor Saket Kushwaha, all Deans of Faculties, Directors/Heads of departments/institutes, coordinators, statutory officers, teachers and non-teaching staff attended the condolence meet.
Mata Prasad was a humble and down to earth person with a zeal to improve the state’s education sector. He envisioned to make Arunachal University a world class centre of learning and it was during his chancellorship and initiation the Department of Hindi was established.
