RONO HILLS, Feb 18: Department of Anthropology, Rajiv Gandhi University today observed the World Anthropology Day here at the campus with a host of activities.
Department Head, Professor S.K. Chaudhuri and other faculty members discussed and highlighted the importance of Anthropology as a discipline and the practical importance of anthropological knowledge in the present multi-polar world. The day was observed through quiz competition, anthropological photography competition and an interactive session between students, faculty members and research scholars. Anthropologists today play an important role as cultural brokers across the globe bridging the gap between indigenous people and the state actors while working parallelly for the growth of nations in general and tribals in particular.
World Anthropology Day is observed on the third Thursday of every February which is an offshoot of the National Anthropology Day started by American Anthropological Association in 2015. RGU PR
