RONO HILLS, Jul 28: Rajiv Gandhi University’s Department of Education from Tuesday started a lecture series on ‘Gandhian Ideas on Educational Policies and Practices’ on its own YouTube Channel which was also launched on the day.
Noted educationist and Padma Shree awardee Professor Jagmohan Singh Rajput graced the inaugural function as Chief Guest and keynote speaker. While speaking on the Covid-19 pandemic he reminded the relevance of Gandhi’s principles and noted that where there is any form of discussion on peace, the Father of the Nation always comes to the picture. Head, Department of Educational Policy, National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi Professor Avinash Kumar Singh stressed on the importance of pedagogy for teachers as part of Gandhian practice of education and opined that every teacher should be a pedagogue. RGU VC Professor Saket Kushwaha agglomerated the ideas of Gandhiji and gave a message that everyone needs to ‘Do right, be right, do justice to each other and everyone, whether you like the person or not’. On the occasion, he along with the Chief Guest launched the YouTube Channel of the Department of Education, which besides airing academic programmes, will work as a repository of the department’s online activity with the objective of increasing the educational outreach among students and academia.
RGU VC Professor Amitava Mitra discussed Gandhi’s ideas of Gram Swaraj, a model of improving the economic conditions of Indian villages through sustainable development. Head, Department of Education Professor Kesang Degi also spoke on the occasion. Dr. Sumin Prakash and Dr. Vivek Singh, both Assistant Professors of the department and conveners of the Lecture series moderated the programme and took questions from participants who attended from all across the country through Google Meet and YouTube live streaming.
The lecture series will continue till July 30 to be participated with academicians from across India with live streaming on the YouTube channel. RGU PR
