Rono Hills, Jan 12: Rajiv Gandhi University, the lone Central University in Arunachal Pradesh has bagged the Best Central University-2020 award during the 3rd Himalayan Educators Summit-2020 and the 3rd Divya Himgiri Himalayan State Education Excellence Award-2020.

The award is given as a recognition of efforts of the leading educational institutes of the Himalayan states for their contribution to the education sector. 

RGU VC Professor Saket Kushwaha received the award on behalf of the varsity through virtual medium during a live award ceremony hosted from the main auditorium of the Institution of Engineers (India) Uttarakhand, Dehradun.  Dean, Students Welfare, RGU Professor Sumpam Tangjang was also present on the occasion. “Team RGU is committed towards a collective future with full dedication and even during COVID pandemic, the varsity continued to perform and fulfil all its responsibilities and expectations. It is due to this resilience RGU could bag this prestigious recognition and I dedicate this award to the varsity’s fraternity for their hard work,” Professor Kushwaha said while receiving the award.

The award was conferred during the International Science & Technology Festival organised from January 9-11 in Dehradun in collaboration with The Institution of Engineers (India), Uttarakhand, Uttarakhand State Council for Science & Technology, Uttarakhand School Education Department and the Uttarakhand Technical Education Department and Society for Research and Development in Science, Technology & Agriculture.

The summit had the theme of ‘Innovation, Technology, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship & Start-Up in the purview of National Education Policy’ which aimed to showcase India’s efforts in promotion of science and technology.
