Rono Hills, Sep 27: An online meeting to discuss issues relating to conduct of examinations and completion of the pandemic-hampered academic session 2020-21 was conducted here on Sunday participated by the Principals of all the 42 RGU affiliated colleges and statutory officers of the varsity.
Registrar Dr. N.T. Rikam said the varsity is ready to face the challenges caused due to Covid pandemic with cooperation and coordination from the affiliated colleges. All the Principals in unison conveyed that internet connectivity is the biggest hurdle faced by the colleges and students and put forward the measures to overcome them. As a response to this grievance, Joint Registrar (Academic) Dr. David Pertin informed that the RGU VC has already appealed to the network providers such as Vodafone, Jio and BSNL to initiate corrective measures for improving network connectivity in the campuses. It was resolved that collective efforts may be put in by the varsity, state government and the affiliated colleges in this regard to press forward the issue of poor internet connectivity with the service providers. It was further agreed upon that as a good number of issues related to online exams are due to feeding of incorrect data by the students while filling up forms, another chance will be given to them for making necessary corrections through a Google Form.
Chairing the meeting, VC Professor Saket Kushwaha appealed to the colleges to work together with the varsity to ensure that the students do not miss the academic year at any cost. Pro VC Professor Amitava Mitra also stressed on collaborative approach between RGU and the colleges for successful conduct of online exams. Controller of Examinations Dr. Bijay Raji, Joint Registrar (Academics) Dr. David Pertin, Joint Registrar (Exams) Dr. Nani Tamang Jose and Coordinator, RGU Online Exams Professor Utpal Bhattacharya shared their views and suggestions.
It is relevant to mention that in view of outbreak of the pandemic in campus, RGU had to reschedule the on-going online exams from September 30 to October 18. RGU PR
