Yupia, Nov 21: Returning Officers (ROs) and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) for the ensuing Panchayat elections under Papum Pare district were imparted a one-day training here at the DC’s Conference Hall today.
Chairing the training programme, Deputy Commissioner-Cum-District Election Officer Pige Ligu called upon the ROs and AROs to get well-acquainted with their duties and responsibilities and read all guidelines and related instructions of the SEC carefully for a glitch-free conduct of polls. While asking the officers to abide by the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and keep constant vigil for their strict implementation, he asked them to visit the polling stations under their respective jurisdiction to assess the ground realities and send feedback immediately. The DC-cum-DEO also stressed on constituting a medical board and strict adherence to COVID-19 SOPs.
Resource Persons EAC Sangdupota Takam Nicholas and Co-Ordinator, DDSE Office J. Tiwari gave presentations on the salient features of conducting the PR elections and roles and responsibilities of Presiding Officers and Polling Officers respectively. Practical training on how to handle ballot boxes was also imparted. Important matters and modalities for a hassle-free conduct of elections were discussed.
It is relevant to note that there are 102 polling stations under Zilla Parishad and Gram Panchayat constituencies in the district. DIPRO
