Aalo, Jul 28: Setting an example that is worth emulating during the current Covid times, people of Yomcha Circle under the initiative of the newly joined ADC Hento Karga have started constructing staying huts for frontline workers and youths who are serving as volunteers assisting the medical team and police at the Yomcha check gate.
These volunteers are school students who are on duty to monitor the entry of people into the Sub-division since the lockdown first started in March. The nature of the job has compelled them to stay away from their families and so far they had been staying at temporary sheds braving all kinds of difficulties. With the initiation of construction of huts which is being carried on self-help basis, it is expected that much of the hardships faced by the volunteers will be alleviated.
Tugo Gangkak, the owner of Sirurijo Tea Estate has donated Rs.10, 000 as an appreciation of the noble initiative. Similar check gates are operational at Darak Circle and various other places in West Siang district where entry of people from Covid-19 affected areas is strictly monitored. The encouraging trend is that the people of the state’s rural areas are proving to be more conscious and responsible than their urban counterparts in the ongoing faceoff with the pandemic. These voluntary precautionary measures in far-off places have immensely aided the district health machineries who have to deliver a major part of their Covid duties at the headquarters. DIPRO
