PASIGHAT, Dec 18: Displaying appreciable citizen responsibility, Mongol Yomso from Pasighat who contested as a MP candidate from the Eastern Arunachal Parliamentary Constituency in the last general election today handed over three great Indian Civets to the capital’s Zoological Park.
Yomso informed that his team of workers found the three Civet cubs somewhere near Ayeng village under Mebo Sub-Division some four months ago. “As soon as I was informed about the rescue of the cubs whose mother might have been killed by hunters, I took them giving nutritional support through milk and meat till they grew up healthier. Subsequently I informed the Divisional Forest Officer, D. Ering Wildlife Sanctuary Division, Tasang Taga who wanted me to release the cubs in the sanctuary. But since, I had apprehension that the cubs might be killed by other wild animals in the sanctuary, I requested the DFO to arrange a safer place for release. Accepting my appeal he contacted the RFO Zoological Park, Itanagar,” he informed. After getting permission from the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest and Wildlife, the cubs along with Yomso were transported via Assam to capital’s Zoological Park. Yomso has appealed to the people to shun hunting and love wild animals. Meanwhile, the DFO Wildlife and member, State Board for Wildlife M. Tayeng has appreciated the kindness shown by Yomso.
