ITANAGAR, Jan 22: Regional Outreach Bureau (ROB) today conducted a webinar on Swachhta to apprise its field staff about the initiatives taken by SBM-Gramin Directorate in the state. Director ROB, Itanagar Dr H.R. Keshavamurthy urged the field staff to spread the message of personal and community hygiene during their door-to-door campaigns in rural areas.
Superintending Engineer, SBM-Gramin Directorate Joi Angu who participated in the webinar as Resource Person informed that already 2.24 lakh latrines have been constructed in the state under the mission with most of them being septic tanks.
While informing that the focus this year is on building community sanitation centres he urged the field staff to educate common people on solid waste disposal.
He also emphasized the need to avoid the use of Single Use Plastic and having plastic waste management systems at Block level for which technology has been obtained from the Central government. Seeking help from the field units to spread awareness on menstrual hygiene management, he also informed that from this year SBM Directorate has taken over the responsibility of building toilets for ICDS which was earlier done by Women & Child Welfare Department. Officials of ROB, Itanagar and Field Outreach Bureaus in Tawang, Bomdila, Aalo, Pasighat and Tezu took part in the webinar.
