ITANAGAR, Jun 28:Strongly opposing the decision of government to increase the retirement age of government employees from 58-60 years, The All Arunachal Pradesh Unemployed Youth Association has urged the government to reconsider the Cabinet decision.

“There is no such need to enhance the retirement age limit of government employees as there are so many unemployed youths who are capable of executing the same job,” said the union while appealing the government to look back at the thousands of unemployed youths, who are already suffering due to shortage of jobs in the state.

Also demanding the government for fresh recruitment for the 106 vacant post in various departments like PWD/PHED/IFCD/RWD etc, the union said that the matter has been pending since 2002 for disposal and urged the government to resolve the issue immediately and start the recruitment process to benefit unemployed educated youths.

Drawing reference from other states like Uttar Pradesh, where government provided relaxation age up to 40 years to candidates, the union suggested the government to emulate the same here in the state by extending existing relaxation age limit from 33 years to 40 years for APST to give equal opportunity to aspiring candidates.
