ITANAGAR, Nov 5: Rajya Sabha MP Nabam Rebia has appealed to the state government to rename an important landmark in the state capital after late Nabam Runghi, the first Agency Council Member of the then undivided Subansiri district who is also credited for establishment of the capital city.
Reminding the state government of the commitment made publicly by Chief Minister Pema Khandu in presence of Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and a galaxy of Ministers, MLAs and other dignitaries during his speech at late Runghi’s funeral on November 18, 2018 at Yupia, that the ‘great son of the soil will be amply honoured,' the MP also highlighted the growing public demand for the same.
The MP added that Nyishi Elite Society, ANSU and ANYA have time and again placed the demand which has the endorsement of society at large.
