TAWANG, Apr 8: All hope is not lost when it comes to Tibet, interacting with media on Saturday, the 14th Dalai Lama said he has forgiven China and only wants to solve the issue regarding Tibet sovereignty with a medium of peaceful talk and non violence.

“As soon as green light comes from Chinese government, I’m ready to go back to Tibet as people there really hope for my return one day,” HH said.

However, he underscored that as per the present circumstances it’s quite difficult as the Chinese government has always been negative about him. “The world knows I’m not seeking independence of Tibet but a resolution that would mutually benefit both sides,” he added. He also urged the Chinese government not to politicize his visit as he has politically retired and that the nature of his visit is purely religious.

Claiming Chinese people as one of the most hard working and cultured people, he asked the Chinese judiciary system to be up to international standards as he feels there are still cracks from within and corruption inculcated from the grassroots level.

On asking him about the reincarnation of the 15th Dalai Lama, he refused to answer definitively but dismissed claim of China choosing the next Dalai Lama. He however didn’t dismiss the possibility of a woman Dalai Lama.

His Holiness also praised PM Modi for his initiatives that focus on rural development.

Shedding light on the hostility against the Tibetan refugees in Arunachal, he informed of taking up the issue with his office and send out officials if deemed necessary to scrutinise the situation and then have a meeting with the Chief Minister Pema Khandu.

Appreciating Pema Khandu, HH said that it is highly unlikely that he (Khandu) will refuse any kind of co-operation.
