ZIRO, Nov 9: Minister, Agriculture, Horticulture, AHV etc. Er. Tage Taki today flagged off a consignment of organic Kiwi fruit here with Delhi being the destination.
The 6  ton consignment, the 5th to be flagged off from Ziro since 2016 was dispatched in a refrigerated van. Flagging off the consignment, Taki informed that establishment of a Kiwi Research Institute in Lower Subansiri district for carrying out R&D on Kiwi will make Arunachal Pradesh the largest producer of Kiwi in the country by 2023. He expressed confidence that the institute will assist the Horticulture department in producing sufficient quantities of quality Kiwi saplings for catering to the demands of farmers and urged them to go for large-scale production of selective crops having good market potential. The Minister also promised to provide transport vehicles and a packing house for the benefit of farmers. 
DAO Tasso Butung informed that Kiwi production in the district has grown from 60 MT in 2016 to 102 MT in 2019. The representative of the procuring firm informed that the Kiwis from Ziro are the sweetest in the market with vast commercial scope and urged the growers to maintain the quality and size of the fruit. Later, the Minister distributed packaging materials to the Kiwi growers on the occasion. ADC cum I/c Deputy Commissioner, Lower Subansiri District Millo Kojin, SP Harse Indora and HoDs were also present. Dipro
