ITANAGAR, Jun 29:  Capital Police (Women Police Station) team arrested a rape accused from Leh after two years of dogged investigation.
Following the  FIR no. 70/20 u/s 376/417/34 IPC dated 17th September 2020,  an FIR was received from a  victim that one L R Meena raped her under the pretext of a false promise to marry. However, the investigation was delayed due to COVID 19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021.
After a detailed investigation, Investigating Officer SI R Singpho finally ascertained the identity of the accused in February this year as one Lekh Ram Meena of Rajasthan. He was on the constant move in Rajasthan and Leh, Ladakh area as he was with the para-military.
Finally team from WPS led by  Inspector  P Taku, SI Rosy Singpho and team traced him and arrested the alleged accused from Leh on 27th June , informed SP-ICR, Jimmy Chiram.
