ITANAGAR, Apr 25: The Arunachal Pradesh Physical Education Association (APPEA) today organized a protest rally demanding immediate conduct of Physical Education Teacher (PET) of the 30 posts pending, increase in the post vacancy and deletion of persons with disabilities (PWD) post reservation from Akashdeep to the tennis court near here.
Speaking to reporters, APPEA Spokesperson Hemant Gamre said that the association has been demanding for the conduct of PET of the 30 posts pending since 2018. It is also the same with the increase in the post vacancy and deletion of PWD post reservations.
“The 30 post for PET was sanctioned and advertised in the year 2018 by the concerned department. But later after two years of gap, the department said that it had to be cancelled due to administrative inconvenience,” he said.
He said it has been almost five years since the exam was conducted. Why the aspiring candidates should suffer because of administrative inconvenience?. Therefore, the department should immediately conduct the exam with upper age relaxation, he added.
Gamre also informed that there are many schools running without PET. Hence, the department should increase the number of post for PET so that every school has least one PET.
Moreover, we also want the deletion of the PWD post which is under reservation.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Secondary Education (DSE) in a statement said the exam was supposed to be conducted by the department as directed by the court. However, the exam could not be conducted due to the notification issued from the AR department to conduct it by the APSSB or APPSC.
Ultimately, the decision came from the state government that the exam will be conducted by APPSC. Moreover, the department also ensured that the age relaxations were provided to those candidates who had applied for the same post earlier.
Subsequently, in February this year the APPSC in a letter yet again directed the DSE to conduct the examination, due to which it was delayed. It was directed that posts reserved for PWD to be mentioned in requisition.
It was also informed that out of the 30 posts, one post has been recruited under meritorious sports person (MSP). However, four additional posts were later added taking the total post of 33.
