DOIMUKH, Sep 25: Rajesh Thakur has taken over the charge of Commandant, 12 Battalion NDRF w.e.f September 24.
The newly appointed officer will now look after the disaster management aspects of 61 districts in four NE states namely Arunachal Pradesh, Upper Assam, Manipur and Nagaland. During the lockdown, on his personal initiative the Commandant helped hundreds of students and workers of Arunachal Pradesh and other parts of the Northeast who were stranded in Delhi, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Hailing from Manali in Himachal Pradesh, the 1998 batch officer spent his childhood in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam and did his schooling from Ramakrishna Mission School, Aalo and Don Bosco School, Haflong. He is a well-decorated officer having a wide range of experience in operational areas and had served in various capacities from Kashmir to Arunachal. Prior to joining the NDRF he was posted in 38th Battalion SSB Tawang.
Being a keen sportsman, he had organized MTB Arunachal and assisted the state government in development of adventure tourism and sports. He was also a member of the prestigious Tenzing Norgay Adventure Awards Committee in 2019. NDRF PR
