ITANAGAR, Jul 26: The 21st Kargil Vijay Diwas was observed here at the Raj Bhavan on Sunday in a befitting manner abiding Covid-19 safety protocols.
Governor Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.), First Lady Neelam Misra, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Member APPSC Major General GS Bisht, VSM (Retd.), Commissioner to Governor HGS Dhaliwal, IG, officials, Raj Bhavan staff and Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel laid wreath and offered floral tributes to the Kargil war heroes at the Amar Jawan cenotaph.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor recalled the valour and sacrifices of the Kargil war heroes in upholding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation. He made a special mention of Naik Digendra Kumar, MVC of 2 Rajputana Rifles who led the assault for recapturing the crucial Tololing Top in the war. Credit of Kargil victory goes to every soldier who fought the war with full preparedness, Governor said and appealed to the people not to forget their sacrifices.
Deputy Chief Minister said that the thoughts, prayers and good wishes of the people of Arunachal Pradesh are always with the 527 families of the Kargil war heroes and the nation will continue to draw inspiration from their sacrifices and Kargil Vijay Diwas will always inspire patriotism, nationalism and spirit of sacrifice among the citizens. Commissioner to the Governor also spoke on the occasion.
ITBP personnel presented Shok Shastra, Salami Shastra and sounded the Last Post and Rouse Reveille bugle call. A short film on the Kargil war was also screened on the occasion.
The 1 Arunachal Pradesh Battalion National Cadet Corps (NCC) also observed the 21st Anniversary of Kargil Viajy Diwas. The celebration was held under the supervision of Col RK Sharma, Commanding officer 1 AP BN NCC, PI Staffs & Lieutenant Palvinder Singh, Associate NCC Officer of Rajiv Gandhi Polytechnic College.
