ITANAGAR, May 16: The Statehood Day of Sikkim was celebrated at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar on Tuesday. Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik, (Retd.) participated in the celebration with the Sikkimese community living in the State.
The Governor, on behalf of the people of Arunachal Pradesh, greeted the people of Sikkim and conveyed warm greetings and good wishes to them on their 48th Statehood Day. He said that Sikkim has delivered exemplary performance in tourism, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and organic agriculture and horticulture.
Parnaik, who served in Sikkim during his service days, said that there are a lot of similarities between Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. He said that both States share a pristine natural environment, tourism potential and religious establishments of a very similar nature.
He exhorted the Sikkimese brethren to imbibe the spirit of celebration, traditions and customs of the Arunachali society and take back good memories of Arunachal Pradesh. He also advised them to take part in adventure sports, trekking and physical activities.
The Sikkimese participants of the celebration presented cultural items on the occasion. They also shared their experience in Arunachal Pradesh and said that the State is a second home to them.
