ITANAGAR, Oct 1:  Despite expressing grief over the loss of three lives of their beloved ones due to purported medical negligence, the family members of Late Desu Pertin Jerang on Thursday clarified they are neither against any particular individual nor harbour any intention to malign anyone personally.
Speaking to reporters here at the Press Club, brother-in-law of the deceased, Tami Pangu said that the family has not reached out to anyone to seek an inquiry into the matter but wants a proper medical services system in place so that no more life is lost for want of medical attention. “The state government should come out with proper Covid-19 SOPs for handling patients requiring immediate medical attention, including pregnant women,” he added.
Although terming the clarification given by the Heema Hospital authority as "acceptable," the aggrieved family member, however, has questioned them for not keeping track of the Senior Gynaecologist of RKMH, Dr Posting Bayang on that fateful day. He further questioned Dr Bayang’s statement that he was “not on duty” at that time, but was performing duty at the Heema Hospital without giving any information to the hospital authority and also for not picking their calls since 3am when the patient’s bleeding started. “When we spoke to Dr Bayang at 5.56 am, he asked us to go to the TRIHMS or arrive at the Heema Hospital. He also said he would inform the Heema Hospital to do the needful, however, on arrival we were told that Dr Bayang was not there,” Pangu claimed.
Meanwhile, Pangu has requested the Indian Medical Association-Arunachal Unit not to silence the aggrieved family members by issuing press statements in an attempt to guard their members. “What more can we say and although we feel it’s a case of  medical negligence, we are not blaming the entire medical fraternity. It is also not right to defend someone just because he is a member of the IMA or a senior doctor,” he added.
