TEZU, Nov 15: A sit-in was staged here today to protest the physical assault of a female attendant of a gas station by an unidentified person.
The Lohit Agency management has temporarily suspended the supply of fuel in protest and has demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.
“The incident is unfortunate that a female attendant was assaulted over a petty issue. We are on the job to trace out the person and collecting CCTV footages from all nearby locations," informed Officer In-charge, Tezu Police Station, R Borang. An FIR has been registered against the person who assaulted the female attendant, he informed.
Condemning the incident, a family member, A Krong, has sought immediate arrest of the person involved in the incident. We should encourage our sisters to opt for any job for self-reliance but such incidents will only discourage their spirit, he said.
Manager, Lohit Agency, Y Johi informed that they are extending all support to the police in the investigation to nab the accused person. We condemn such incidents of assault on employees of any organization especially towards women. If there was any issue, we could have solved it amicably and peacefully, he added.
