ITANAGAR, Aug 27: Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) today held a meeting with the Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and Chairman of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Ninong Ering here in his office to discuss steps to be taken for ensuring minimum CAG observations.
The meeting stressed on adherence to proper financial working in the State for eliminating audit observations from the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) in their Audit Book. It was suggested by Deputy Chief Minister that PAC Chairman, Ninong Ering being an experienced leader, would be the most appropriate person to work out the methods and procedures for eliminating the Audit objections and observations during the current financial year with support from all government departments. Ering expressed happiness that this important subject is being paid due attention and said that he will try his best to interact with all GoAP Departments and hold regular meetings at short intervals for the purpose.
For proper implementation of the above requirements, a slew of decisions were taken. It was decided that for resolving the issues of audit objections, fortnight meetings would be convened and presided over by PAC Chairman and the process should start as early as possible. The competent officer dealing with the subject will be nominated by each department to attend the meeting regularly and compulsorily. Any difficulty or other related requirements can be dealt with during the period between the dates of the meetings with the help of their parent department. Every officer attending the meeting must come fully prepared to explain the issues connected with the Audit objections and non-preparedness in this regard will not be appreciated.
\PAC Chairman will allocate Preparatory Tasks/Works to each attending officer as considered appropriate by him and it will be obligatory for all officers to complete their Preparatory Task/Works for the next meeting. It was also decided that the State should treat it as a matter of honour and dignity to ensure that in the next CAG Report, Arunachal Pradesh attracts least Audit observations and if possible, not a single one.
Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds the State’s Finance portfolio emphasised on the importance of the work of the Public Accounts Committee and it was hoped that achievements of the Committee under Ering will set a benchmark for years to follow. PRO Raj Bhavan
