ZIRO, May 13:  Prominent lyricist and decorated sportsperson Hage Hinda passed away peacefully on Thursday at his village residence in Hari village at 76 years of age. He is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters. He was a multifaceted personality par excellence.
An extraordinary sportsman, in 1965, he participated in the World Scout Jamboree in Melbourne, Australia. He was also the first President Scout from NEFA now Arunachal Pradesh to have received the Best All Round Scout Certificate from the then President, Late Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan during Republic Day celebration in Delhi in 1965.
He also worked as Assistant Editor and Announcer in All India Radio, Dibrugarh from 1971 to 1981. Later He resigned and chose to become an ardent social worker. He was instrumental in abolition of practice of Tattooing, shifting of Hari Primary School from Byara to Megyang. He also served as ASM for three consecutive terms.  
Late Hinda was also a prominent Lyricist in Apatani Community. He penned evergreen songs like Ato chimanii, Piinga piingo, Diika tojalo diinang diipa do, Ajing niimi ngo, Oka onya, etc. 
His last rites will be performed on Saturday.
