ITANAGAR, Aug 3: The Pro-Dam Movement of Arunachal Pradesh staged a protest while serving 15-days ultimatum to the state government demanding White Paper of detailed utilization of revenue collected @12% from commissioned hydroelectric projects.
Speaking to the media, President PDMAP, Tao Paul informed that the association has served representation many times to the authority but till date no response has been received which he said prompted the association to stage a sit-in protest.
The association is demanding White Paper on the details of upfront money collected from various power developers both from public and private sector amounting to Rs. 149573.72 (one thousand four hundred ninety five crores seventy three lakhs and seventy two thousand only) and immediate engagement of CBI for strict investigation on the same. Immediate terminate all the 142 numbers of MoU/MoA signed by the state government with private sector, he said.
"With so much of Hydro power projects, government should give free electricity to entire households of Arunachal Pradesh," Paul said.
The permanent NEEPCO corporate office should be shifted from Shillong (Meghalaya) to Itanagar and NHPC mini corporate office and establishments should be shifted within the territory of Arunachal Pradesh, he added.
The PDMAP is also demanding job reservation of 40% in group A&B category and 100% in group C&D category for indigenous unemployed youths of the state.
The Pro-Dam body also questioned the state government about the modalities adopted to repay the loan amount of Rs 225 crores that the state government had taken as a loan from NHPC Ltd. @ 9% interest per annum to revive the sinking Apex Bank of Arunachal in 2007.
While serving 15-days ultimatum, the association has also demanded immediate termination of all the 142 numbers of MoU/MoA signed by the state government with private sectors.
