ITANAGAR, Mar 18: A 3-day state level capacity building programme for Panchayati Raj functionaries on “Social Defence Issues” is underway in the state capital Itanagar conducted by the State Institute of Social Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (SIRD&PR) in collaboration with National institute Social Defence, New Delhi. Addressing the inaugural at the department’s conference hall, Habung Lampung, Director, SIRD&PR urged Panchayati Raj leaders and officials to come forward and be exemplary while dealing with social issues. He urged the elected leaders of Panchayati Raj Institutions not only to focus on development schemes but also on skill development and social defence issues of their respective constituencies as such the development of any area depends on the skill development of its people. He further urged the participants to disseminate the information and knowledge earned from this training at the grassroot level within their respective areas and department with Motto “Sharing of Knowledge”. He further informed the participants that SIRD&PR has prepared training calendar for 2021-22 and shall try to achieve the target not only to impart training to the elected Panchayati Raj leaders but also to other concern officials.
Various expert resource persons from legal experts, social justice, NGOs, Narcotic, Crime, etc. are imparting the training on various social issues like drug abuse, old age, beggary, HIV/AIDS, trafficking, transgender, etc. during the programme which will be held till March 20 next. The three-day training is attended by Panchayati Raj Members like ZPC, ZPMs and official functionaries like circle officer, PTA, etc. across the state.
Dr. Vijay Kumar Sharma, Deputy Director-cum-Senior faculty of SIRD&PR informing about the concept of social defence issues requested the participants to think out of the box to deal with various social issues.
