ITANAGAR, Jan 27: Following a news report alleging him of supporting the 36-hour capital complex bandh call by the All Nyishi Youth Association recently, Sangey Phuntsok who is also the President, District Congress Committee Tawang, has outrightly denied any involvement and termed the allegations "irrelevant and without any substance."
A news report mentioned one Ram Flago alleging Phuntsok of giving him Rupees 10 lakhs to support the bandh call.
"Neither the Tawang District Congress Committee nor I as an individual have any allegiance to ANYA or any organization in Itanagar or in Arunachal Pradesh except the Indian National Congress. The statements or any allegations by Ram Flago on me is totally out of context, irrelevant and without any substance," he said.
In his clarification, the DCC president said that he had only once been casually introduced to Flago and termed the allegations 'imaginary'.
"Prior to ANYA sponsored Capital Bandh I happened to visit Kumar Waii briefly for personal reasons and there I was casually introduced to Ram Flago while in the room where we normally sit along with many other guests. Never before have I met nor associated with him in any sensible term, or for any socially relevant purpose or issues except for those brief period.
The question of asking him to participate in bandh call or for any purpose does not arise. Accordingly, the issue of giving him amount of Rs 10 Lakhs is irrelevant, unsubstantive and imaginary for me," Phuntsok said adding that he is contemplating legal recourse for unnecessarily dragging his name.
