RONO HILLS, Feb 28: The three member pre-NAAC team from University Grants Commission (UGC)’s National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore who are on a two day visit to the state to assess the university’s Academic & Administrative Audit has expressed satisfaction and said that the varsity has tremendous potentiality.
The Chairman of the AA&A team and Vice-Chancellor of Bhattadev University, Pathsala, Barpeta, Assam, Prof. Brinchi Kumar Das highlighted that RGU’s scope for getting reaccredited with top grades is very good and bright. He however, emphasized on uploading of instant data validation and verifications in varsity’s website and called for an urgent conduct of student satisfaction survey with proper orientations at the earliest.
Prof. Niranjan Roy of Assam University, Silchar and Member of the AA&A team suggested for concentrating on Strengths-Weaknesses-Opportunities-Challenges of the varsity. He also said that there should be proper analysis and presenting the same in a robust way.
“Curricular, teaching learning, research and consultancy, student support and governance, best practices and other 35 indicators are to be taken care while documenting it before the NAAC peer team’s visit very shortly,” Roy observed. He further advocated for mentored mentoring system for a lift in the overall benefit of students and said that RGU need to go for more collaborations and international exposures. The other member of AA&A Prof. Ajanta Borgohain Rajkonwar of Dibrugarh University said that RGU have all resources endowed with natural beauty, has potentiality for being graded A, although there is a need for rigorous sensitization and streamlining. Further, she appreciated the University for taking initiative to go for dual mode of assessment and accreditation.
The Vice-Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University Prof. Saket Kushwaha urged the faculty members and researchers to go for more publications of their research outputs and hoped that the observations and suggestions put forward by the visiting team will rightly motivate the university fraternity further.
The Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof. Amitava Mitra in his speech said that the university will put its efforts to be audited every year for better preparedness for the prestigious NAAC accreditation henceforth.
Among others, the Registrar in-Charge Prof. Tomo Riba and Director of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) Prof. RC Parida also spoke. Earlier, the team interacted with all the stakeholders of the university.
