ITANAGAR, Mar 8: In a fresh development, the National People’s Party (NPP) state unit today said it will not support any movement led by the Congress or the Opposition parties on the PRC issue but wants a specific time frame on the judicial inquiry into the whole episode. Earlier on March 6, all Opposition parties like Congress, PPA, NPP and JDS had submitted memorandum to the Governor demanding resignation of the Chief Minister on the PRC issue within three days, failing which they threatened to resort to a sit-in protest in front of the Raj Bhavan.
“We have nothing to do either with the Chief Minister or with the state government, at the same time we also have no business with the Congress or the BJP,” stated NPP Spokesperson cum MLA Roing, Mutchu Mithi today.
Speaking to reporters, Mithi further informed that its senior leader Tanga Byaling attended the all Opposition party meeting on a personal level, as NPP had already resolved in its meeting that it will neither support BJP or Congress on the PRC issue. “Both Congress and BJP are playing blame game on PRC but reality is that both have supported PRC to Non APST and only in the aftermath of violence they have backtracked,” asserted the NPP Spokesperson.
NPP categorically demands the Chief Minister to immediately initiate judicial inquiry and unearth the truth that too before the ensuing assembly election, said Mithi while informing that the NPP stands with the sentiments of the indigenous people, be it the Citizenship Amendment Bill or PRC issue.
Claiming that the recent movement was not politically motivated but a people’s movement, NPP sought accountability by conferring free and fair justice to the victims. “There are multiple statements on firing orders and hence we want immediate judicial enquiry. Moreover we hold the Congress, BJP and government responsible for the recent PRC mayhem in the state,” he said.
