Aalo, Dec 9: After the last date for withdrawal of nominations for the upcoming PR elections, scrutiny has revealed that a large number of ZPM and Gram Panchayat Member seats in the three assembly constituencies of West Siang district have been won unopposed.
In 27th Liromoba AC, four BJP candidates namely Babom Romin from Liromoba, Jumde Yomgam Gamlin from Yomcha, Minba Raksap from Darak and Mari Kato from Lower Kamba were declared elected unopposed and one seat in Upper Kamba is being contested out of the five ZPM seats. Out of 115 GPM seats in four circles, 95 have been won unopposed by the BJP and 15 will be contested. In Aalo East AC, all the four ZPM seats will see contests and in Aalo West AC, five out of six seats are being contested, leaving Gekar Angu as the lone elected unopposed ZPM.
Overall, out of 15 ZPM seats, five are uncontested and in 341 GP seats, 282 went uncontested. Out of the remaining 59 GP seats, there will be contests in 55 and 4 will remain vacant due to rejection of nominations. DIPRO
