ITANAGAR, Mar 30: The People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) on Saturday has announced that it will emphasize mainly on the issue of the defective Statehood Act 1987 as part of its manifesto for the ensuing Lok Sabha polls.
Secretary-General, PPA, Kaling Jerang who released the manifesto, also came down heavily on the NDA’s announcement that if voted back to power it would bring back Citizenship Amendment Bill and make it an Act. The manifesto has also termed NDA as unpopular, anti-democratic, anti-secular and anti-North East.
“It is discouraging to see the candidates of almost all the political parties contesting for Lok Sabha and Assembly polls 2019 having no relevant agendas of state importance in their manifesto,” Tayeng said.
While pitching the party as a better alternative to the two national parties, Tayeng stated that the people of this frontier state seems to forget the old saying that charity begins at home and unless one builds his own house he will not be hired by others to build theirs.
PPA has emphasized mainly on the issue of the faulty Statehood Act 1987 as the core issue of its 2019 election as it feels that only the parliamentarians belonging to regional parties can initiate and create the much-needed environment in the floor of the parliament for the amendment of the Statehood Act 1987 neglected by former parliamentarians.
