ITANAGAR, Jul 8: Triggered by incessant rain during the past few weeks, a massive landslide has put at risk a vital tower of the 132 KV Daporijo-Aalo transmission line located near Tode village in Upper Subansiri district, the damage of which will lead to disruption of power supply in several districts.
Informing this through a press release, Department of Power has said that the said transmission tower (No. DRJ-ALO 90) is currently in a precarious state as one of its four legs is almost exposed with just two feet from the edge. The department has taken temporary preventive measures by covering the eroded portion with geotextile sheets to prevent further erosion and it will be shifted to a safer location at the earliest. The 132 KV Daporijo-Aalo transmission line is a segment of the 547 km long 132 KV radial transmission line that emanates from the 405MW Ranganadi Hydro Electric Project (RHEP) at Hoj and extends up to Namsai via Ziro-Daporijo-Aalo-Pasighat-Roing and Tezu.
The damage will result in disruption of grid power supply to above areas beyond Daporijo up to Namsai, the department has alerted.
