LONGDING, Mar 31: Along with the rest of the country the fortnight-long Poshan Pakhwada came to a close today in Arunachal Pradesh.
The state’s Department of Women & Child Development celebrated the central flagship initiative meant for addressing the nutritional challenges through propagation of awareness on topics like malnutrition prevalence and its consequences, Poshan Vatika, food forestry, identification of SAM/MAM children and its management etc. A host of activities like community based events, home visits, Poshan workshops/seminars, nutritious recipe and cooking contests, kitchen gardens, stories/drawing competitions, mothers’ group meetings, poshan melas, local meetings, cycle rallies, webinars, youth group meetings, DAY-NRLM SHG meets, folk shows were organised across the state during the above campaign which commenced on March 16 last. As per WCD department's dashboard which records such activities, a total of 1,19,134 people participated. 
As a mark of conclusion of celebrations, a valedictory function was organized today by the WCD Department at Longding wherein the field functionaries and Anganwadi workers who worked tirelessly during Poshan Pakhwada were felicitated and awarded with commendation certificates. The closing programme began with plantation of fruit-bearing trees at Luaksim-I Anganwadi centre, ICDS project Kanubari by the dignitaries followed by Poshan song by the ICDS team and an address by Dy. Director, WCD Hacham Bangsia.  Director, WCD T.P. Loyi stressed on the importance of grassroots level participation, including involvement of PRI leaders for proper nutrition of women and children and motivated the Anganwadi workers to work diligently for taking ahead the Poshan Abhiyaan. DC Longding Bani Lego appreciated the WCD department for spreading awareness on nutrition and appealed to the menfolk to help the family for the cause. Dr Geetika Vashishti from WHO focused on immunization of children, identification of undetected diseases among them and Covid vaccination of the old-age people. EAC-cum-District Panchayat Development Officer (DPDO) Dakli Gara assured to make nutrition a topic of discussion at gram panchayat level.

The programme also saw the distribution of LPG cylinders and stoves for the Anganwadi workers and helpers to give them relief from smoke caused by chula and maintain hygiene at the Anganwadi centres.
Deputy Director, ICDS H. Bangsia, State Nodal Officer, Poshan Abhiyaan Dorjee K Thungon, ZPMs, officers of converging departments like Heath & Family Welfare, PHE, Agriculture and Anganwadi workers were among others present during the closing ceremony. 
WCD Department, ICDS Project, Mechuka in collaboration with ArSRLM celebrated Poshan Pakhwada in Shi-Yomi district with activities such as nutrition awareness campaigns for mothers and children, identification of children with acute malnutrition, Poshan walks etc. Open air yoga and dissemination of information about various ICDS schemes were the thrust areas. 
Poshan Pakhwada was also observed in far-flung Monigong Circle with marked enthusiasm by the mothers, children and various stakeholders who participated braving the cold weather. Dept. of WCD PR, DIPRO
