PASIGHAT, Sep 18: As a part of the ongoing Poshan Maah-2020 which will continue till September 30 next, district health departments across the state are currently implementing their respective plans of action to reach the nutrition targets.
In East Siang, a one day training for Anganwadi Workers under Poshan Maah-2020 as a continuation of the Nutri Garden Scheme in Anganwadi centres was conducted by the Deputy Director ICDS Machi Gao in collaboration with Horticulture KVK Pasighat on Thursday at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra of CHF in Pasighat.
Inaugurating the training programme which was attended by more than 90 AWW trainees, Dean of College of Horticulture & Forestry, Professor BN Hazarika emphasized on the need for Nutri Garden at Anganwadi centres. Guest of Honour and Chairperson CWC (East Siang) Joya Tasung Moyong while elaborating on the importance of Nutri Garden also highlighted WASE’s activities for betterment of society. DD, ICDS highlighted the importance of nutrition among children, lactating mothers and pregnant women. Professor SK Bandyopadhya and Associate Professor Dr. Pranabjyoti Sharma were the Resource Persons.
In Longding district, KVK organized Poshan Maah-2020 at the community hall in Kanubari wherein 81 participants including Anganwadi workers attended.
I/c Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Longding Dr A. Kirankumar Singh discussed in detail about the importance of nutrition in life and imparted training on Nutritional Kitchen Gardening to the participants in order to ensure a balanced diet to the school going children specially at the Anganwadi Centres in the district. While discussing about prevention of various dreaded diseases through proper nutrition and hygiene, he also suggested the participants to avoid consumption of carcinogenic materials which will help in reduction of cancer and stressed on consumption of organic-origin food.

As a part of the training, the participants were distributed different vegetable seeds like cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, mustard, tomato etc.
Along with the rest of the state, ICDS, Tirap headed by Khonsa  CDPO, N. Matey carried out Rashtriya Poshan Maah on Friday at Khonsa.
CDPO briefed  about the importance of Rashtriya Poshan Maah and inaugurated an organic food stall as a part of the Kitchen Garden Scheme run by  AWWs/pregnant women. Interacting with them, Supervisor (ICDS), Khonsa Block Timah Sumnyan enrolled the names of pregnant women and infant children.
Till September 18, a total of 16 villages in Tirap district were covered under Poshan Maah activities.
In Tawang district, as a part of celebration of Poshan Maah-2020, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Tawang on Thursday organized an awareness cum training programme for Anganwadi workers and farm women of Kyidphel Circle at the GSS Kyidphel.
Circle Officer, Kyidphel, Tsering Choden appealed to the Anganwadi workers to bring more awareness on balanced diet for children and women to reduce malnutrition and advised the villagers to grow more nutritious vegetables and fruits in their kitchen garden and farms.
SMS(Home Science) KVK Tawang Dorjee Yodon Thungon briefed the villagers about the importance of Poshan Maah. Vegetable seeds, face masks and hand sanitizers were also distributed to the participants. DIPRO, KVK
